Dear Friend,
WOW! What a wonderfully crazy celebration of 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Disney+ (ABC) had events running 24 hours. DC had the biggest fireworks ever despite the heat that covered most of the U.S.
How did you celebrate? Me? I stayed home in my air-conditioned house, went to bed early, and just relaxed. Mostly because I was at the end of the intestinal thingy that is going around.
In case the heat wasn’t enough, there were storms all over the place. Some people are still without electricity since Saturday night’s storms here in Oklahoma. Today is a “cold” front, as it is only going to be in the 90s instead of the 100s; those will come later this week and next week unless things change.
I’m getting my packing list done for my trip to RWA Conference next week in New Mexico. It’s been 8 years since I attended one, and I’m looking forward to getting away with a couple of friends for the week.
I’m still coming to grips with my mom’s passing last month. I haven’t been able to get back to writing the book that is due out on November 13, but know that I will get there. It takes time, and mom wouldn’t want me to be in the funk right now. My mom’s passing made it 5 deaths (natural causes) in 8 years: my beloved husband, my mother-in-law, my daughter-in-law, my oldest and dearest friend, and my mom.
So, I’m going to work on getting back to whatever another new normal is going to be and carry on with life and bringing my imagination to life on paper.
That’s about it. I can never thank you enough for continuing to read these snippets into my life as an author. I hope I have not bored you too much with them. 😊 After all, other people's lives are never as glamorous as we may think.
May your ereader or bookshelf overflow with delightful books to read!
Maxine
