8/24/26 My Author Life

Dear Friend,

It’s another scorcher in Oklahoma! This is probably going to be short and sweet, and maybe a little sour. We’ll see.

The only news is that my son, Parker, and granddaughter, Makenna, have been here every day until 9:00 or 9:30 after the sun goes down. With this heat, the a/c in their mobile home just can’t keep it cool with heating up all day long. I don’t recall how many days it has been now, but it seems like forever and a repeat of the summer of 2011 when we had several months of continuous 100F+ for days on end.

Unfortunately, my routine has been disrupted as well. Being a creature of habit, I do all my promo, chores, etc. during the day and then write at night. However, with them here, there’s no way I can do that. Parker loves making comments while watching a show or a video on TikTok. Makenna just sits quietly in the chair on her tablet, watching what she wants to watch. Oh well, these temps can’t last forever; only until mid-September, so they said this morning on the weather.

I have three things to do this week that I am not looking forward to doing. But only because of the heat. It’s enough that I pickup Makenna from school every day, but I have a CAAC meeting Tuesday night at 6:30 and to man the county fair booth on Thursday at 5 and again Saturday morning at 9, followed by the FOL booth at 11. At least the latter two are in the morning. I am looking forward to days that are in the 90s! LOL

See! I told you it was going to be short. I can never thank you enough for continuing to read these snippets into my life as an author. I hope I have not bored you too much with them. 😊 After all, other people's lives are never as glamorous as we may think.

May your ereader or bookshelf overflow with delightful books to read!

8/10/26 My Author Life

Dear Friend,

“I gotta go back, back, back to school again. Whoa, whoa, I gotta go... back to school again!” Makenna has been singing the blues for a week now. Her first day of senior year is on Wednesday, and to tell the truth, I’m not sure I’m ready for her to be done, as it marks the beginning of adulthood for her at the end of this coming school year.

I’m sure she’ll have a few things to say about her first few days this year. 20 minutes has expanded the school day, meaning it starts 10 minutes earlier and gets out 10 minutes later than last year. This is all because Oklahoma implemented an extra recess for the lower grades, which I don’t understand why high schoolers need to have the same changes, but it makes it fair across the board. Next year (27-28), the school year itself will be expanded by either days or weeks; I haven’t really paid attention because Makenna is the last in the family to go to public school.

It has been hotter than blazes here the past few weeks; actually, it seems like it has been in the 100s most of the summer. This old home of mine does not have central heat or air, which means I have three window air conditioners that do a pretty good job of keeping it cool; two on the south side and a big one on the west, which is the front of the house. The only time it really gets noticeably warm is when the heat of the day hits as the sun has moved to the west.

A quick update on my Zepbound journey: nothing to report, really. Just sticking to my protein, fiber, and liquid intake, which is mostly water. Once I reach a significant weight loss I’ll post a before and after picture. So until something newsworthy happens, this will be my last update.

I can never thank you enough for continuing to read these snippets into my life as an author. I hope I have not bored you too much with them. 😊 After all, other people's lives are never as glamorous as we may think.

8/3/26 My Author Life

Dear Friend,

It’s Monday in all its glory! This is probably going to be short and sweet, and maybe a little sour. We’ll see.

Miss M came over this morning and she’s feeling a bit under the weather with a tummy ache and all that entails. So, being the grandma that I am, I was off to Walmart at 7:30am to get stuff to help her feel better. After a good hot soak in the bathtub, some electrolytes, and an aspirin, she’s curled up in the recliner fast asleep. Part of her issue is because of having Hirschsprung’s Disease, which is a disease of the colon. I’ll spare you the details, but you can Google it.

My Zepbound journey is going well so far. I’ll be starting my third week on Wednesday, and while there’s been a bit of a learning curve on what to eat to get my protein and fiber in each day, there’s also a learning curve in what supplements will work best. While I was at Walmart this morning, I picked up some prebiotics/probiotics to take along with my other supplements.

Writing-wise, I’m still working on my November 13 release.

See! I told you it was going to be short. I can never thank you enough for continuing to read these snippets into my life as an author. I hope I have not bored you too much with them. 😊 After all, other people's lives are never as glamorous as we may think.
